Mini stripes and pink: Pinterest challenge

Good morning!  Today I'm linking up with Sarah over at Simply Sarah today for her Pinterest challenge.  The challenge? Find an outfit on Pinterest that you like and try to re-create it with stuff in your own closet.  In my case I just happen to have seen and fallen in love with something that Rachel over at Pink Peonies wore.  And then I pinned it. And now I'm re-creating that pin. With stuff from my closet. I think I've followed most of the rules.

Definitely time for a new lens. See below.

Top: thrifted
Shorts: Ross (old)
Shoes: thrifted
Bag: thrifted
Necklace: SteinMart

In other very exciting news, I finally broke down and ordered the Canon 50 mm f/1.8 lens I've been wanting for a while.  What this means for me is I'm out $119. What this means for you is that the under-construction backyard I've subjected you all to for the last couple months should soon be artistically out-of-focus. :)

Do you have and use a Pinterest account frequently? Do you use Pinterest for fashion inspiration?

Have a great one!

  1. I love how you recreated the look (and I like the wide waistband detail on those shorts!). I have a Pinterest and I use it...somewhat frequently. I pin a lot of food recipes, lol... ;-)

  3. Thank you, Mary Ann!  I pin a ton of recipes as well and it's super helpful, actually - I've used Pintrest almost exclusively the past couple weeks for meal planning. :)

love it!!! Awesome interpretation.  I'm thinking of just getting a whole new camera; mine broke down and it's barely usable (and my pictures look like crap anyways because I have a crappy camera). Go figure.  Thinking the Canon Rebel but it's mucho $$$.  Love this outfit look and LOVE those pants!!

  5. Great job on recreating the outfit yet making it your own.
I pin inspirational photos all the time but hardly ever go back and try to recreate something. Definitely need to start doing it one of these days :)

  10. i LOVE your recreation. SO FAB. okay. and because i'm having this problem. do you take the pics yourself or does someone take them for you?

  11. Thanks, Molly!  I take them myself ... I started out using the self-timer on my camera, and balanced it on a chest of drawers in my bedroom.  That was a huge hassle, so I broke down and bought a cheap tripod from Target, and eventually got a remote shutter release thingy, which makes taking pictures so much easier!

  21. Thanks, Jessica!  I have no idea how I functioned without Pinterest. ;)  Lenses are hard to choose between, but I don't think you can go wrong with this one ... especially considering the price!

  22. Thank you!  I normally stay away from shorts (hate my legs) but these are long enough that I don't feel uncomfortable.
