Shabby Apple Affiliate and Bethesda Fountain Dress

Hi, everyone!  Thank you for all your sweet comments over the weekend, and welcome to my new followers!  I'm settled in Nashville and have spent most of the time with a glass of red wine in one hand and my mother's baby Yorkie in the other, but I'm looking forward to catching up on blogging and responding to all of you!

I'm also excited to announce that Shabby Apple has contacted me and invited me to participate in their affiliate program!

Dresses from Shabby Apple

What this means is that if you purchase anything on Shabby Apple's site by accessing the webpage through the link on my blog (either here, or see the button under "affiliates" on the right), that I get a commission!  Meaning that you get beautiful clothes and I get to graduate from boxed wine to non-gas-station-bottled and we're all winners.  (On a more serious note, keep reading to learn about Shabby Apple's humanitarian focus.)

If you aren't familiar with Shabby Apple, it is an online, independent clothing boutique that carries a women, children, and maternity line.  The founders' goal is to make women "feel feminine and beautiful for what they wear, not what they bare", and that their dresses be a "one-piece outfit" without the need for  additional clothing to make them wearable.  All of their clothing has a glamorous, retro feel, and their standards for manufacturing are high.

Undoubtedly, one of the most fantastic aspects of this company is that Shabby Apple donates a portion of net sales to support women in the developing world who have taken microfinance loans to run small business, which is helping transform communities and lift families out of poverty.  Having recently read Half the Sky, this has been on my mind and conscience a lot. Each item of clothing comes with a tag that features a profile of one of the women being helped by these loans.

I recently ordered the  Bethesda Fountain Dress (currently on sale!) and can tell you first hand that Shabby Apple dresses are beautiful, unique and well-made.  I'm in love with the unusual neckline and comfy cotton/spandex mix - I did alter the dress slightly by tying the ends of the bow behind my back (the entire thing was just too much on my super short frame), but this dress will be flattering on many shapes and heights.  The only drawback is that the material is virtually impossible to iron totally flat, but the wrinkled effect doesn't bother me too much.

Pull your hair halfway through a low side ponytail letting the ends hang free, and pin.

Shabby Apple's clothing does run large, and I had to order a full size down, so definitely consult the sizing charts before ordering.

Have you ordered anything from Shabby Apple? If so, what have your favorite items been?

Have a great week, everyone!

~MM

  6. Thanks, Sarah!  The hair was super easy to do ... a rubber band and handful of bobby pins, and about 10 minutes is all it took.

  17. I have yet to order anything from SA simply because several of my friends have said that the color doesn't hold up after washes and overall the quality isn't what one would hope for at their prices - PLEASE let me know how this holds up for you - maybe I will finally go for it!  ;)
