Totally Nautical

Good morning, lovlies!  I'm getting kind of a late start this morning/week.  All those plans to catch up on my blogging once classes were out evaporated as soon as it occurred to me that it is now totally ok to stay up until 2:00 a.m. drinking boxed wine and watching Modern Family reruns.  Give me a few days to get used to this newfound freedom, and I'll be back to normal.

One of my favorite trends this spring is the nautical look that seems to be back in full force.  Crisp blue and whites always remind me of sun and sand and boats and beach vacations. I found this fantastic, nautical-inspired skirt at and belt at Old Navy, and paired them with a sunny, yellow cardigan I already owned.  To keep things interesting, I flipped the cardi around so the buttons run up the back.

And while there is plenty of sun and sand to be found here in the Sonoran desert, I'm afraid you'll have to settle for a boulder and some cactus instead of boats or beaches.

And speaking of sun and sand and beach vacations, any plans for a fun getaway this summer?

Have a great week, everyone!

~MM

  2. Keith - I still have some outstanding responsibilities (trying to get some research published), but not having to be on campus every day is HEAVEN! Thanks for asking, friend.

  7. Hi! I found your blog last week (cant remember how), anyway, I love that we're the same height because I can totally relate (although I'm not as skinny :) )  Anyway just wanted to say I love your style and I'll probably be replicating some of them with items in my closet.

  10. Loving your take on the nautical look! Speaking of nautical, a Duck Boat Tour is a tourist attraction in Boston. It is a truck that drives on both land and water, and they take you on a tour of Boston by roads and the Boston Harbor! I have never done it before because it is super touristy, but my mom really wanted to do it so we took her. It was a lot of fun, actually and really informative! Here is the link to their website, if you feel like learning more :)  http://www.bostonducktours.com/

Hey, you! Loving the skirt :) We are going to be stuck here in Dubai this summer, so exactly a lot of sun, sand and surf minus the boat for us.. hoping for my husband to be able to squeeze a few days of  off days to 'jet off' somewhere nearby

  17. I'm a big big fan of the nautical look.  I always have been too.. Wonder if it has anything to do with that whole 'blue and white' thing? hmm lol.  And I love how you flipped the cardigan around.  Sometimes I buy a shirt/dress/skirt simply because it has a detail on the back! :)

  37. Gorgeous, Creative Bonnie: THIS IS MY MOST FAVORITE LOOK you have worn thus far (in 2012) that you have posted in your blog. I AM IN LOVE WITH IT TIMES A HUNDRED!! I can't believe that skirt and super-adorable rope belt are from Old Navy. They look like they could be from Anthro. Also adorable banana-yellow cardigan (worn backwards: A-MA-ZINGGGG!!), purse & wedges. Long story short, I love every single piece you have on, here. =)
