Guest posting at Long Live Classy

Good morning!  Today I'm guest posting over at Long Live Classy and am talking about how to take three summer wardrobe staples (white tee, striped tee, white blazer) and transition them into fall.  Definitely check out Megan's blog when you have a chance - she is a fellow Arizona girl and has a beautiful, timeless style!

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.  I've spent the majority of it quite literally buried under what is almost literally a mountain of grading.  We did manage to get out of the house for a bit last night, and even snapped a picture of this rare occurrence.

See you tomorrow!

Get your mind out of the gutter ...

Hi all! I have a couple bits of exciting news to share. 1) It's Friday 2) After a ton of hard work by the fantastic Angie of Angie Makes and her tech savvy hubby, my new urls are up and running! Delusions of Grandeur, formerly Mini Me Style, is now located at  (And all of the old urls should automatically redirect).

(Blogger tip for those of you using the Blogger platform - you can change your url just once from a to custom url and have all your links automatically redirected. But should you decide to change your web address again, you're on your own! So figure out your identity issues early on.)

A few of my friends have mentioned that when they see "dofgstyle", their mind goes to a place that's not exactly G-rated.  So let's get one thing clear here.  This is still a style blog in the wearing clothes sense, m'kay?

And to prove it:

Ruffled tee: Old Navy
Cardigan: Target
Skirt: Old Navy
Collar: ASOS
Boots: Aerosoles
Heels: Nine West via Ross

I tried this outfit with boots and a pair of cap-toed heels, and think I prefer the boots. Thoughts?

Have a great weekend and thank you for reading!

Sugarlips Flutter Away Top

Happy Hump Day, friends!  Getting a slow start on the blogging this week.  My mother had a major milestone birthday a couple weeks ago, and this past weekend my sisters, aunt and I flew her to Dallas and all met there for a surprise birthday celebration. She had no idea anything was planned - only that she needed to have a suitcase packed!  It was a wonderful couple days of girl time, relaxation, massages, pedicures and maybe a tad too much champagne.  Returning to "real life" was quite the shock to the system and I'm still recovering.

A week or so ago Sugarlips sent me this adorable Flutter Away Top and I was excited to give it a whirl for the blog today. I'm a big fan of the butterfly print, and the asymmetrical hemline and back zipper are fun, unexpected details. I styled it a couple different ways - belted to give it a peplum feel, and tucked into a pencil skirt.

Top: c/o Sugarlips
Belt: Target
Skirt: Old Navy
Belt: Target
Earrings: Target
Shoes: Cole Haan via ebay

How would you style this top? I had originally envisioned it paired with a contrasting colored, solid bottom but in the end decided to stick with black to be safe.

Have a wonderful what's left of the week! Which thank goodness isn't much.

Stripes, floral & tan

It's Friday!!!!

That is all.

Top: H&M
Scarf: Target
Cardi: Modcloth
Necklace: Modcloth
Belt: F21
Skirt: thrifted
Shoes: Nine West via Ross

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you next week after some much needed R&R. I thought once I finished my classwork for this doctorate that I'd be able to lay around on the couch and eat bon bons and drink beer in my underwear and things of that nature, but noo0OO0oooo. As it turns out, my advisor still wants me to DO things. Like pass my comprehensive exams.  And do research. And write a dissertation.  This week was brutal.

Have a good one, thanks for reading, and I'll see you soon!

Target gets all fancy

I wandered into the mindless consumer twilight zone that is Target the other day for toilet paper and a bag of tortilla chips, and came out with this LBD instead.  It is from the new Kirna ZabĂȘte line, and I'm pretty impressed by the quality. The fabric is a heavy brocade, it is fully lined and the fit is perfect, with no bunching, gaping or pulling. These dresses are a little spendier than your typical Target dress (this one was $49.99), but I'll definitely get my money's worth out of it!

Dress: Target
Necklace: c/o T&J Designs
Shoes: Cole Haan via ebay

Anyone familiar with this line and/or have you purchased anything by Kirna ZabĂȘte?

Have a wonderful week and thank you for reading!

Is it next year yet?

I saw this outfit a while back on the lovely Shanna from Because Shanna Said So (love this girl!) and had to copy it to a "t".  And this was the perfect week for copying, as any creative energy I may have has been spent trying to figure out how I'm going to finish this PhD with even a shred of sanity/dignity.  Thank you for hanging in there with me even though my posting has been sporadic and outfits are few and far between!  I've entered the comprehensive exams phase, which means tons of reading, a little eating and sleeping, and maybe occasionally showering. Definitely not much dressing nice. I taught in a t-shirt with holes in the armpits the other day. But this too shall pass.

Chambray shirt: Old Navy
Leopard skinnies: Target
Shoes: H&M
Belt: Target
Flower pin - off an old dress

I really appreciate all your comments, emails, FB messages, etc. Your support means a ton to me, and I hope you have a great weekend!

T&J Designs

I was really honored when T&J Designs contacted me about styling the Luxe Spike Crystal necklace for their featured fashion bloggers series, which you can see here!  T&J's is an online jewelry and accessories boutique that has been operating for about a year, specializing in fashion forward items at a variety of price points.

I can't get enough of the sparkle and shark's tooth shape! I have always been obsessed with glittery things. When I was about 5, I had a full-on Chevy Chase Christmas meltdown in the middle of a Michael's because my mother wouldn't buy me a crystal tiara from the bridal section.  Making up for lost time now.

Tee: thrifted
Blouse: Ross
Skinnies: Old Navy
Shoes: Cole Haan via ebay
Necklace: c/o T&J Designs

The necklace is a little spendier than my grad school budget would probably allow, but T&J's is offering a 20% discount on this necklace this week - you can access the discount code here. And it's crystals. And sparkly.

When loved ones intervene

When Watson* walked by my closet a few days ago and yelled "HOLY S#!% YOU HAVE A LOT OF POLKA DOTS!", I realized it was probably time to reign things in a bit. The man is incapable of differentiating between black and white when he does laundry, so for him to notice and name a preponderance of a certain print definitely means it has spiraled out of control.  But since this tee was absurdly expensive for a couple square feet of cotton and string, I think I'll subject you to it one more time this season. "This season" being the 100-degree misery that lasts until mid-October 'round these parts.

*pseudonym for my semi-paranoid significant other

Tee: Madewell
Skirt: Old Navy
Skirt: Target
Shoes: H&M
Necklace: H&M

So anyone watch that NFL opening game last night? I sure didn't. Couldn't name 5 football teams if my life depended on it. Just making conversation over here.

Almost ...

Happy 4-day workweek, and I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Despite having the last  four days pretty much to myself, I managed to almost accomplish a lot and actually accomplish very little. I almost went grocery shopping and almost got my roots done and almost changed out of yoga pants and almost quit grad school and joined the circus.  Here's to hoping next week is more productive.  Please, entertain me with all the fabulous and exciting things YOU did this past weekend!
